One of my favorite authors took an unflattering pic of herself and posted it on her site, calling it an entry in a contest for worst author photo. Now I have my own. It doesn't show up all that well in the photo, but I now have a shiny red dot on the end of my nose. Can you see it? That is NOT normal.
I have strep. That's not one of those gee-wizz, guess I have to lie in bed and read kind of owies. It hurts to talk and it hurts to swallow. It hurts standing, sitting, and lying down. I'd get more sleep if I didn't have to wake up every 2 hours to take more fever/pain meds. Even taking them that much, I haven't dropped below 99 in days. I'm either shaking from the cold or burning up.
I got a shot, I'm taking the rest of my antibiotics like a good girl, but I guess strep is something you just have to ride out.
So, sorry for the blog silence. I've been too busy whimpering.
So how are all of you? What's your least favorite sickness? Does the threat of catching it inspire you to, like, exercise, eat right, and get plenty of sleep?
Strep is pretty terrible, but I think the worst I've ever felt is when I have mastitis. I was so sick once I passed out while I was nursing. I hope you get feeling better.
ReplyDeleteAngie: Ahhh! Mastitis is horrible! Mostly because it makes you feel like such a bad mommy because YOU DON'T WANT TO NURSE YOUR BABY! But you do it anyway... and destroy your own health. Like all "good" mommies do.
ReplyDeleteI've never had a full-blown case, but anything worse than the pain of those first few weeks just can't be worth it. ;) Or so I tried to convince my s-i-l.
I'm feeling a bit better this morning. Headache still with me, bu fever finally backing off. Still can't swallow without whining.
I am so sorry to hear this! You need some sunshine and a vacay girl! I hope you get well soon.
ReplyDelete*hugs* Thanks heavens for antibiotics, huh? Strep is a mild form of Scarlet Fever. Scary, isn't it if Strep is the MILD form of anything?
ReplyDeleteI hope you feel better soon.
I had scarlet fever as a little girl, so if it's anything like that, I feel sorry for you. In fact, I feel sorry for you anyway, it sounds like really not fun. Get well soon.
ReplyDeleteJessie--too bad this will eat up all possible vacay time!
ReplyDeleteDonna--strep sure doesn't FEEL mild!
Sarah--my older sister had scarlet fever when she was young, too, I think. Fortunately, I remember very little about it.
Thanks, everyone!
Oh, you poor woman! Strep is bad enough, but strep pain that doesn't fade after 12 hours on antibiotics? Yuck!!! I hope you feel better really, really soon!
ReplyDeleteYou poor pathetic thing! I hope those antibiotics kick that in the butt right now!
ReplyDeleteI'll have to agree with Angela that mastitis is AWFUL. I also despise sore throats. I had my tonsils out a couple years ago. I've had 3 c-sections and I'd take another one over a tonsillectomy any day. Brutal surgery for grown-ups. Also hate stomach flu, the really bad kind where you can't rest because you're throwing up every few minutes.
Ugh! My med-alarm app ate my comment! Grrr.
ReplyDeleteHeidi--passed 36 hrs on anti-b's. Still can't swallow.
Kristin -- I'll see you vomiting and raise you a diarrhea. At the same time. *shudders*
Eww, been there done that too. Luckily only a couple of times!
ReplyDeleteKristin--only good thing about strep? If you have vomiting, diarrhea, runny nose, or trouble breathing... it probably is NOT strep.
ReplyDeleteHi Robin. I do hope you're feeling better. So sorry to hear you got strep--it's horrible.
ReplyDeleteOh, and I probably won't be able to make the Farland call tomorrow...well, it's iffy anyhow. It's trunk-or-treat night for our primary so I'll either be there or with my oldest son at gymnastics. If I can swing getting gymnastics duty, I'll make the call.
Get well soon.

I can't believe you are blogging in your condition. That is dedication. Get better soon.
